SECI has issued a tender for 724,000 tonnes/year of green ammonia across 13 fertiliser plants under the SIGHT scheme. Officials described it as India’s most ambitious clean fuel procurement yet.
“This is about assured demand,” said an MNRE official. Fertiliser executives welcomed the move, saying it would drive scale and reduce costs.
Analysts warn of cost gaps with grey ammonia, but the tender could anchor India’s domestic market and pave the way for exports.
