Coal India Ltd (CIL) announced a ₹5.15 final dividend for FY25, amounting to ₹3,173.80 crore. The government, which holds a 63.13% stake, will receive ₹2,003 crore.

CIL remains India’s largest coal producer, supplying more than 80% of the country’s demand. While India’s renewable capacity grows, coal still provides 70% of electricity. Officials said dividends remain a critical source of government revenue.

However, analysts caution that declining global coal sentiment could pressure valuations over the medium term.
