Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) has signed a 10-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement with Abu Dhabi’s ALNG, ensuring steady flows to its Chhara LNG terminal in Gujarat. The pact strengthens Indo-UAE energy cooperation and gives HPCL long-term supply security at a time when LNG spot markets remain volatile.
The Chhara terminal, with a nameplate capacity of 5 MMTPA, is expected to play a strategic role in India’s gas transition. “This deal underlines HPCL’s ambition to grow its natural gas footprint and reduce carbon intensity,” said an oil ministry official.
HPCL is also expanding its workforce. On August 16, it conducted a computer-based recruitment test for Engineers and Executives across disciplines. With India’s refining capacity set to increase, HPCL is banking on younger talent to steer its expansion. Answer keys for the exam are expected shortly.
